Clayton & McKervey, an international certified public accounting and business advisory firm located in metro Detroit, is pleased to announce that shareholder Margaret Amsden, CPA, who heads the firm’s tax practice, has received the Ilene Lanfear Heart & Soul award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland and Macomb Counties.
Amsden began volunteering at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland and Macomb Counties in 2007 and has served in a variety of roles, including board chair, trustee, treasurer and member of the finance committee, all the while mentoring, coaching and teaching the Clubs’ young members. In commenting on the award, Brett Tillander, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland and Macomb Counties, noted Amsden’s many contributions to the Clubs.
“Margaret Amsden is one of those truly unique leaders that transforms organizations. Her vision and drive to serve inspires staff and volunteers alike. Honoring Margaret with the first Ilene Lanfear Heart & Soul Award celebrates two outstanding change agents,” Tillander said.
Amsden was surprised with the award at the Celebrating the Future Dinner, held on March 3, 2018 in Royal Oak. The history of the Ilene Lanfear Heart & Soul award as well as a tribute to Amsden can be viewed here.
