It seems hard to believe, but it has been four years since we suddenly loss our president, Kevin McKervey. I am forever grateful for Kevin’s mentoring and preparing me for the leadership position. However, no matter how well you are coached on the challenges of being the company president, you can only really appreciate and grasp the challenges of the role by actually being in it and living it.

It seems hard to believe that another year has passed. I suspect that many of you are wondering, like me, where 2019 went? Though the year seemed to go by in a blink of an eye, I can only look back on the past 12 months with great appreciation.

A few weeks ago I traveled to Rome, along with my fellow shareholder Sue Tuson, to attend the PrimeGlobal World Conference. PrimeGlobal is one of the five largest associations of independent accounting firms in the world.

The signs from the economy seem to be a bit of a mixed bag. Though in July, a respectable 164,000 jobs were added and unemployment remains incredibly low at 3.8%, there are other indicators that seem to signal a slowdown.

As I was went walking through the neighborhood last evening, thinking about my upcoming work week and all of the tasks that I needed to accomplish over the next five days, I was struck by all of the holiday decorations and ornaments on the lawns of my neighbors.
