My name is Miranda Urban. I just finished my sophomore year at Central Michigan University. I love to spend time outside. I go up north to my family cottage as much as possible where we hunt, fish, water ski, and Jet Ski. This is my first internship so I’m super excited to experience the accounting world!
What was it about C&M that attracted you in the first place?
When I first took an office tour of C&M, I loved how everyone was friendly and open to talk. They took time out of their day to tell me their experience with the firm and how they got to where they were.
Is C&M what you expected
It isn’t what I expected in the best way. Most people think of accounting firms and accountants as bland and mundane. My first day at C&M showed me that was not the case here. The people are warm and welcoming. We had a breakfast mixer where I got to meet almost everyone in the firm, including shareholders and the president. They want you to feel as if you are a part of the firm, even as in intern; I’m already on the softball co-ed team!
Was there anything that surprised you?
How open the communication was. Partners and managers’ doors are always open. I can stop and talk to them in the break room and they treat me as a colleague, not just an intern. I have even gotten to know and learn from people in other departments.
What are you looking forward to most?
I’m looking forward to learning more about C&M and what it has to offer. I want to learn as much as I can about the accounting profession during my internship.
