“Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast”
Our organization, like most, gets really busy attending to the daily tasks at hand of serving clients, hiring and training staff, marketing our services, and tending to the hundreds of other small things needed to make us function effectively. With all of this steady activity, our leadership team, like every leadership team, needs to occasionally take a step back to work on the business. Well, that is what we did last week—and what a great week it was!
The Clayton & McKervey team spent time working on concepts to make us more effective and accountable leaders, in addition to discussing and learning about many of the technological changes that will be impacting our world, along with the world of our clients. Exciting and important stuff! But, the most valuable part of the week was actively engaging with our leadership team in developing our future. Though the future is changing at a rapid pace, with many challenges, I am extraordinarily comfortable facing these challenges with the team and culture we have in place. When with our team, I keep thinking about Peter Drucker’s quote, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” I find this to be so very true when I see how effective organizations operate. Without a great and unique culture, it is almost impossible to effectively execute on strategies, no more matter great they may be. I am so proud of my entire team and I can hardly wait to build the future of Clayton & McKervey with them.
